been busy

I'm sitting at my desk at work, scarfing down chocolate kisses blackberry yogurt and desperately hoping to stay awake until 3:00 when that magical last bell of the day rings.

I have been rather silent of late-not because I have nothing to say (believe me, I have oodles of blog posts running through my jumbled brain every day...lucky you) no, because we have had company this week that has kept me quite busy as well as tearing up my house for a kitchen renovation.

The kitchen is my haven- my happy place. Aaron has a bedroom reserved to be his manspace (that he is losing to nursery #2...sad sad day), but the kitchen is my space. Needless to say, watching my little kitchen be ripped to shreds was difficult...and wildly exhilarating. (I asked for a sledge hammer so that I could help with the demolition, but sadly, I got shot down...can you imagine?)

Anyway, before you get all excited about seeing pictures of a magazine/dream kitchen- I have to say that this is not my dream $30,000 kitchen. This is a new countertop/oven/stove/microwave thing that was badly needed as the kitchen hasn't been updated since it was built in 1960. I am so excited and so thankful for Aaron's friend Chris' help (they built the countertops themselves!) and for Beth (Chris' wife) who allowed him to come. (-: (will show pictures in a future post when it is all finished)

Here are the hooligans hanging out in my garage...I mean, our husbands working diligently to build a countertop.
Their talent amazes me

The supportive wives. We sacrificed by shopping and hanging out while the men worked...(-: (you can tell Chubbs was equally cooperative)

Random Father/daughter moment that Beth caught on her camera that I am completely in love with

Checkout Chubbs' spring attire: I had to add a few extra accessories to keep her warm (it is snowing here today)...but she made it work. (-:

Thank you Beth and Chris for driving all the way from Michigan to come visit us and for all of the hard work that you put into making my kitchen better! Chubbs loves her Uncle Chris and Aunt Beth!

  3. So great that you have a husband that can do something like that! And a daughter that can rock those accessories (especially the shoe-on-the-nose) like she can! :-) Great pics!
