rebellious

Valentines Day. After dealing with sugar crazed teenagers all day...accompanied by a pounding headache and a slightly cranky baby...I didn't feel like posting a warm fuzzy Valentines day post. Just call me the Valentine's Grinch. Don't get me wrong- I love lots of people, but I'm just not in the mood for a sugary, sappy post. No.

I'm in the mood for Spring and Summer. Beaches, three months off of work, warm sunshine on my pale little face.

With every letter I type we lose another degree of warmth from outside. (I'm not complaining, mind you...just noting the high tech thermometer that my husband has in his manspace)

Following a rebellious streak, I decided to dress my little girl in a cute summer outfit and pretend. Forget the cute red sweater, leggings, and fuzzy warm hat. No. I present to you tank top, capris and sandals:
She was a huge fan. (I think she was mostly upset that I dared photograph her unpainted toenails)

She decided to exercise a little rebellion of her own:
not wanting to stand in her sandals.
good thing the couch is soft.
Addison was pretty thrilled that said sandals from last summer finally fit.
There's really nothing cuter than little feet encased by sandals. Forget her tiny Ugg boots....we've moved on.
It's really too bad it's 30 degrees outside.

But, it's 30 plus degrees warmer than it was last week...so we'll take it, wear our summer clothes and jack the heat up (I hope Aaron doesn't read this before the thermostat has a chance to climb)

Note: Baby model kept happy by constant cracker intake. Mommy was too tired to edit the half eaten cracker hanging out of her mouth....so it's part of the look we're going for.
rebellion.

Take that, sugar high me. Oh yes, so many bad decisions made today. Someone please take the Hershey's Special Dark Pieces away...Not. Helping. Headache.

happy valentines day.

  6. I'm so ready for spring and summer too. And after our super cold temps we've had lately, the 40 degrees this morning felt like a heat wave!

  7. I went to South Bend, Indiana Feb. 4-6th for a wedding. It snowed each day; it was mostly overcast. This was good for me. I had forgotten what a Northern winter was like and why people get tired of it and look forward to spring so much. Spring was my Mom's favorite season. We would always guess when the channel on the Mississippi would reopen, when the first robin would be outside the kitchen window and the first daffodils. I decided I've become a wimp about Northern winters. It's been a looong time since I grew up in Minnesota and this was evidence. The snow was pretty, the fields of Indiana clean and white, but I didn't mind flying out of the area and back to weather in the 40s and 50s and seeing the sun mo;re days. Yes, I am spoiled.
Loved the sandals. Addison certainly noticed them, too!
    Love,
    Doc
